Origin
Most of the products marketed by Cretan Golden Products are produced in the village of Agia Varvara in the municipality of Gortyn. The village of Agia Varvara is built on the southeastern area of the largest mountain in Crete, Psiloritis, the pride of all Cretans but also of all Greeks. Since 2001 Psiloritis Natural Park was established with its management company A.K.O.M.O.M. - Psiloritis Development S.A. O.T.A. with the scientific support of the Natural History Museum of the University of Crete. After many efforts, the company has been able to prove its rich geographical diversity, magnificent landscape and its undeniable history and tradition. Thus, Psiloritis Natural Park was integrated into the UNESCO World Geoparks Network on November 17, 2015, achieving worldwide recognition. The geographical location of Psiloritis makes him exposed to all directions of the wind, thus differentiating the qualities and types of agricultural products grown in its lucrative soils. On the southeast side of which the village of Agia Varvara is built many fruit and vegetables, vines and olive trees are cultivated. Due to the high altitude (600m) other products grow mature late and others early. However, in any case, the quality of all is excellent with rich aromas and a strong aftertaste, all of which come from appropriate weather conditions and fertile soil.
